MISSION

Skamania County Risk Management operates within the Human Resources Department under the direction of the Skamania County Board of County Commissioners. The department is dedicated to proactively identifying, evaluating, and reducing risks that may affect County operations. Its mission is to protect employees, the public, and County property and assets by implementing effective prevention strategies and sound risk‑management practices.

GOALS

The primary goals of the Risk Management Department is to reduce the frequency and severity of risks related to employee safety, liability exposure, and property loss. To achieve this, the department is guided by the following objectives:

  • Proactive Risk Identification Conduct ongoing analysis to anticipate and recognize potential risks before they develop into incidents or losses.
  • Preventative and Protective Measures Implement structured prevention strategies—including training programs, safety protocols, and formal risk assessments—to minimize exposure and enhance operational resilience.
  • Comprehensive Scope of Oversight Address risks affecting County employees, members of the public, and all County facilities, equipment, and assets.
  • Direct Accountability and Reporting Maintain transparent communication and provide regular reporting to the Skamania County Board of County Commissioners to ensure oversight, compliance, and informed decision‑making.
