Updates to the Skamania County zoning ordinance for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area will go into effect on July 13, 2022.
Skamania County implements the Management Plan for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area through its own adopted ordinance. The Columbia River Gorge Commission adopted amendments to the Management Plan in 2020 and the Board of County Commissioners subsequently amended Title 22 in December 2021 to maintain consistency with the new updates. National Scenic Area regulations require that the Gorge Commission and United States Department of Agriculture determine that the County’s code amendments are consistent with the Management Plan. The Department Agriculture granted its approval on June 13, 2022. The Gorge Commission previously approved the County’s ordinance. With this final concurrence, Skamania County’s updated Title 22 National Scenic Area ordinance will go into effect on July 13, 2022.
