Post Date:06/23/2021 12:07 PM

Emergency Small Debris Burn Ban

Skamania County and all counties within the Pacific Cascade Region of Washington State are implementing an emergency ban on Small Debris burning:

When: 12:00 AM Friday, June 25, 2021 until October 1, 2021.

What: All issued small debris burn permits will be invalid and there will not be any new small debris burn permits issued until the small debris ban has been lifted.

All small debris fires that are currently burning must be completely out by 12:00am Friday, June 25, 2021. Recreational fires are still open in approved pits only. You can find the minimum standards for fire pits at www.skamaniacounty.org/firemarshal. Please use extreme caution with all recreational fires paying close attention to wind conditions.

In addition, Washington State Department of Natural Resources has changed their fire danger level to MODERATE as of June 23, 2021 for all lands protected by the DNR. Written permits issued by the DNR for Silvicultural burning are only valid at LOW fire danger.

Please check all available resources before you start burning again, including the Skamania County Website, Washington State Department of Natural Resources website or call the Community Development Department at (509) 427-3900.
