Pre-Cooked Pasta Recall Affects Select Ready-to-Heat Meals and Ready-to-Eat Salads

This announcement is an update on the Nate's Fine Foods, Inc and FreshRealm recall first announced earlier this year regarding pre-cooked pasta products recalled due to possible Listeria contamination and an associated nationwide illness outbreak.

The pre-cooked pasta linked to illness was used in a variety of products and packaged under several brand labels. The recalled items include ready-to-eat and heat-and-serve products and some may have been frozen.

Firms are still working to determine if additional recalls are needed.

The following products subject to recall had distribution in Washington:


Linguine Recall

Recalled items were shipped nationwide.

Associated Illnesses
There have been 27 reported illnesses, 25 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths across eighteen states. One case has been identified in Washington.

Consumer Guidance

  • Consumers who purchased or received recalled or affected meals should check their refrigerators and freezers and should not eat or serve these products.
  • If you or your family member have symptoms of illness you should contact your health care provider to report your symptoms and receive care.
    • Pregnantpeople:Fever, muscle aches, and tiredness. Your illness may be mild, butListeriacan cause pregnancy loss or premature birth. It can also cause serious illness or death in newborns.
    • People with weakened immune systems may have: Headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, in addition to fever, muscle aches, and tiredness.

Retailer Guidance

  • Check inventory to ensure all recalled pasta products are removed from retail sale.
  • Clean and sanitize all surfaces, utensils, and equipment that contacted recalled products.
  • Ensure staff are aware of the recall and trained on proper procedures.
  • Continue to monitor recalls as additional items may be added.
