Associated Illnesses
There have been three reports of STEC infections caused byE. coli O103 in Washington (2) and Oregon (1). Illnesses occurred between September 5 and September 16, 2025. The case in Oregon consumed the Twin Sisters Creamery Farmhouse cheese prior to becoming ill.

The recall was initiated after Twin Sisters Creamery was notified that the Farmhouse cheese sample analyzed by a third-party lab confirmed presence ofE. coli O103andE. ColiSTEC was detected in Whatcom Blue samples analyzed by WSDA and FDA.

Federal and state laws allow raw (unpasteurized) milk cheese to be sold if aged for at least 60 days, but aging does not eliminate the potential risk of harmful bacteria.
Consumer Guidance
Consumers are encouraged to check their refrigerators for recalled product. Recalled products should not be eaten. They should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. Clean and sanitize surfaces they touched. Consumers concerned about an illness should contact a medical professional.
Consumers who purchased Twin Sisters cheese are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Twin Sisters Creamery at 360-656-5240 Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5:00pm PT.
Distributor and Retailer Guidance
Distributors and retailers must examine their inventory and quarantine any recalled product, including repackaged products. In addition to recall of specific products, the company is asking for hold of all Twin Sisters Creamery cheese products pending additional testing.
