Lewis and Clark have been here...Have You?
Welcome to Skamania County's website. We are a rural county located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.

Our county consists of 1,672 square miles of the most  scenic and diverse landscape in the world. We have the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, and an abundance of wilderness areas in which to enjoy the great outdoors.  You can windsurf, mountain bike, kayak and boating, snowmobile, cross-country ski, hunting and fishing, or rest and relax in one of our quiet hideaways. If you find that you are in need of the big city life you are  only minutes away from the hustle and bustle.

The communities cultural heritages can be seen in the local museum the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center.
