RESOLUTION 2001-60
(Skamania County Supports the President to Defend Against and Bring to Justice the Perpetrators of the Terrorists Attacks on the United States)
WHEREAS, the events of September 11, 2001 have changed the lives of many of our fellow Americans forever; and
WHEREAS, we are gathered here to observe a moment of silence and reflect on the lives of those fellow Americans; and
WHEREAS, it is by this reflection that we can come together to share our hopes and aspirations that the concepts of freedom, justice and goodwill are those characteristics of our society that we strive to preserve; and
WHEREAS, we cannot adequately extend a helping hand to those that have already given the supreme sacrifice, but we can, in shared grief, promise to those that remain that we will do what we can to ensure that the many lives that were lost were not in vain, nor will they be soon forgotten.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the governing board of Skamania County supports the president of the United States, as he works with his national security team to defend against additional attacks and find the perpetrators to bring them to justice, and;
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the governing board of Skamania County recommends to its citizens to support relieve efforts by giving blood at the nearest available blood donation center.
PASSED IN REGULAR SESSION this 18th day of September, 2001.
