Skamania County operates two boat launches which provide access to the Columbia River and tributaries. Both are located in central and east county areas and require a Skamania County launch fee be paid for use. Click the link below to purchase passes online.

Once your order is complete you will receive a receipt from PayPal, an order confirmation from Public Works and your Boat Launch Pass from Skamania County - all via email. Please be sure to check your junk folder.

Please be advised that WA State Discovery Passes and Natural Investment Permits are NOT a valid boat launch permit at Wind River or Drano Lake.

Anyone who is found in violation of launching without a permit will be fined $100.00.

*Guide Services will be fined $400 for launching without a permit.*


  • Boat launch pass shall be displayed on the tow vehicles rearview mirror and is transferable between the boat owners vehicles.

  • Failure to properly display a launch pass shall be subject to penalties set out in Skamania County Code 10.16

  • Pass sales are no longer available at the launch sites and only available at local merchants, County Offices or online here.

  • Drano Lake and Wind River parking lots are designated for tow vehicle and boat trailer combinations, single vehicles are not allowed to park in the lot unless a valid handicap permit is displayed.

  • There is NO PARKING between the hours of 1am - 3am.
  • All passes expire on December 31st of each year.

  • A lost or destroyed pass will be replaced at no cost with owners original receipt.  A new pass will need to be purchased if no receipt is shown.

Launch Fees

Users are required to purchase a Skamania County Boat Launch Permit to launch at Wind River and Drano Lake Boat Launch sites. Boat launch permits can be purchased online or at one of the following stores:

Guide Permits are not sold in stores and can only be purchased either online or in the Courthouse Annex during regular business hours.
