Welcome to our Public Works Site

County Road

County Road is the largest of these departments. Road maintenance is funded by gas and property taxes together with state and federal funding that allows for the maintenance and construction on your streets and bridges, provides for street lighting and signage to provide the user with the best possible transportation system. All County Road permits to include approaching a county road off of your property, utility repairs in the roadway or the need for an address on a private road are available here as well.

Equipment Rental

The Equipment Rental Division owns and maintains about 90% of the County’s vehicles on the road today. Each department of the County pays for the vehicle use which pays for maintenance and replacement on any given class of vehicle. Fuel is paid for directly by the department using the vehicle so each can monitor how much fuel is being used.

Solid Waste Division

The Solid Waste Division has three collection sites referred to as Transfer Stations throughout the County to serve the needs of county residents. They accept all solid waste, provide recycling education and handle all items dropped off in each recycle station.

Boat Launches

Skamania County operates two boat launches which provide access to the Columbia River and tributaries. Both are located in central and east county areas and require a Skamania County launch fee be paid for use.
