2014 cwma poster

The mission of the Columbia Gorge Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) is to prevent and control the spread of harmful invasive plant species in the Columbia Gorge region by facilitating cooperative management among all willing land managers.

The Skamania County Noxious Weed Control Program is a primary partner in the CG-CWMA membership that also includes but is not limited to Klickitat County Noxious Weed Board, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District, Underwood Conservation District, The US Forest Service, Oregon and Washington Departments of Fish and Wildlife, Oregon Department of Agriculture, Mt. Hood National Forest, The Nature Conservancy, Bureau of Land Management-Salem District, Wa Department of Natural Resources, Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District, Columbia Land Trust, Oregon Department of Transportation,  Confederated Tribes of the Yakama Nation, Columbia Riverkeepers, Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute, Wasco County Weed Department and US Army Corp of Engineers.  There are also private citizens that participate.

These partnerships reinforce programmatic success for all stakeholders by decreasing the threat of infestations from adjacent lands and recognizing priorities for control efforts in a regional context.

The Gorge CWMA has developed Best Management Practices for weeds found in the gorge.
