About the District Court
District Court serves as the trial court for civil lawsuits involving amounts up to $75,000, criminal misdemeanors, traffic infractions and small claims.

There is a high volume of cases filed in District Court every year. In 2009, approximately 3,440 cases were filed, of which 58% were traffic related offenses. In addition, the District Court judge reviews all county search warrants and is Commissioner for the Superior Court.
