HEARING EXAMINER

The Hearing Examiner conducts a quasi-judicial proceeding and issues decisions and recommendations on land use cases and administrative appeals in Skamania County.  Decisions by the Hearing Examiner are subject to appeal to the Superior Court, based on the record established before the Hearing Examiner.  (NSA Appeal decisions can be appealed to the Gorge Commission and Shoreline decisions can be appealed to the Shoreline Hearings Board).  The Hearing Examiner is a land-use attorney appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

The information contained herein is inteded to provide a brief description of the Skamania County Hearing Examiner process and is designed to assist those who participate in the land use decision making-processes.  The Hearing Examienr process is described in more detail in the Skamania County Ordinance 2006-16 (SCC Chapter 2.80.) Copies of relevant ordinances are available from the SCCD Department.
