RESOLUTION 2007 - 09

 

(APPOINTMENTS TO THE COLUMBIA GORGE HOUSING AUTHORITY)

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, meeting in regular session, and having before it the need to consider appointments to the Columbia Gorge Housing Authority; and

WHEREAS, it was determined that a coordinated effort between Skamania County, the City of Goldendale and Klickitat County through establishment of a "Joint Housing Authority" would best serve the public interest to make available housing in the county; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance 2002-22 adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on October 28, 2002 approved formation of a joint housing authority by the Skamania County, Klickitat County and the City of Goldendale pursuant to RCW 35.82.300 to be named the "Columbia Gorge Housing Authority"; and

WHEREAS, the area of operation of the Authority includes the combined area that lies within the territorial boundaries of unincorporated Klickitat County and Skamania County and within the territorial boundaries of the City of Goldendale; and

WHEREAS, the Authority shall be governed by a board of five (5) commissioners composed of two commissioners each to be appointed by the respective boards of county commissioners of the   Skamania County and Klickitat County (any or all of which may be county commissioners), and one commissioner to be appointed by the Mayor of the City (which may be the Mayor); and

WHEREAS, each commissioner shall hold office for a term of three (3) years, except that the terms of the initial commissioners shall be staggered such that one commissioner shall serve an initial term of one year, and two commissioners shall serve initial terms of two years; and

WHEREAS, Skamania County Commissioner Jamie Tolfree has accepted an invitation to serve on the Columbia Gorge Housing Authority representing Skamania County for the remainder of the three-year term of County Commissioner from February 13, 2007 through April 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Leanne Marley, a citizen of Skamania County, has accepted an invitation to serve on the Columbia Gorge Housing Authority representing Skamania County for the remainder of a three year term ending April 30, 2007 and for a three-year term from May 1, 2007 through April 30, 2010,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Skamania County Board of Commissioners does hereby appoint the following as Skamania County’s representatives to the Columbia Gorge Housing Authority:

            Jamie Tolfree         Term (Unexpired):  February 13, 2007 through April 30, 2009.

            Leanne Marley    Term (Unexpired):  February 13, 2007 through April 30, 2007

                                           3-year term:             May 1, 2007 through April 30, 2010.
