RESOLUTION 2005 - 28
(Establishing a trial court improvement account for funding superior and district court staffing, programs, facilities, or services as appropriated by the
county board of commissioners)
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature enacted E2SSB 5454, the trial court funding bill, during the 2005 legislative session; and
WHEREAS, each county receiving a payment under this legislation is required to establish a Trial Court Improvement Funding Account; and
WHEREAS, each county is required to deposit within said account an amount equal to that which the county receives from the state for partial payment of district court judge salaries; and
WHEREAS, the local court improvement account may be used to fund a broad range of court improvements, as appropriated by the county legislative authority; and
WHEREAS, funds for this account shall come from the state’s share of increases in filing fees for civil lawsuits in District and Superior courts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Skamania County Board of Commissioners that:
1. Pursuant to Chapter 457 Washington Laws of 2005, there is hereby created in the county treasury a Trial Court Improvement Account (Fund number 1270.000).
2. The county treasurer shall make a quarterly deposit of funds to the trial court improvement account in an amount equal to that received quarterly from the state for district court judge salaries.
3. The purpose of the trial court improvement account shall be to fund improvements to superior and district court staffing, programs, facilities, or services as appropriated from time to time by the Board of County Commissioners.
