The Engineering Division is responsible for inspecting all county roads and bridges for safety, and structural integrity. They determine which roads and/or bridges need improvements and/or reconstruction and prioritize them into a six -year Transportation Improvement Program. It is important to remember that the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program is subject change and, some of these projects will take a few years to complete. From the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program an annual construction program is developed. The Engineering Division uses the Annual Construction Program as their guide to design, acquire Right-of-Way, and construct the projects.
Before approving the County’s Annual Budget, the Board of Commissioners approves both the six-year and annual programs.
In addition to inspecting and designing road improvement projects, the Engineering staff works with other departments in the County designing and engineering recreational and economical development projects such as the Drano Lake Boat Launch.
