SWIMMING POOL

 

The Skamania County Swimming Pool is owned by the Stevenson/Carson School District and operated by the County.  The pool staff offer swim lessons to kids through the Elementary Schools and through private and small group options.  They also offer exercise class, lap swim, public swim and pool rentals for special occasions.  The pool hosts swim meets for the SHS Bullfrogs and meets the length requirements of most organized swimming competitions.

 

MEET THE STAFF

Laila Goldring has been the Aquatics Director since January of 2003.  She has a BA in Recreation from Western Washington University and started her career in recreation as a lifeguard and swim instructor with Metro Parks, Tacoma, at age 16.  Laila has been a competetive swimmer since age 12, played water polo in college, and recently started competing in triathlons.  Laila oversees all pool functions including training, hiring and supervising all staff, overseeing the swim lessons and other programs, maintaining pool chemistry, training people on the rock wall, and coaching the age group swim team.To contact Laila call 509-427-3983 or email her at goldring1@earthlink.net

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Valerie Parsons joined the pool staff as Assistant Aquatics Director in August of 2007.  She is a Registered Nurse with extensive ER experience and is a former paramedic.  Val has advanced life support and EMT experience dating back to 1985 and has been a strong addition to the pool staff.  Val works in the evenings, on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons, and during pool rentals.  She is continuing to run special events like dive-in movies, glow swims, and other themed swims.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brendan O’Grady helps supervise our Indoor Skating program for teens.  He also chaperones at the popular Warehouse Dances held each fall and winter and the Exhibit Hall.  Brendan is an avid skateboarder himself, which helps to draw participants for this program.
