Livestock Advisory 2/12/07

BJ moved to accept minutes as read was 2nd Dave Ladwig and passed. Of the Feb meeting.

 

Weigh-in dates were decided upon  April 14th  Beef   from 9 am-11 am   Certificates and Green cards are due April 1 in the 4-H office,

 

Swine weigh-in May 16th    time 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm   Certificates and Green cards are due June 1 in the 4-H office,

 

Sheep and Goat weigh-in June 13th Certificates and Green cards are due June 1 in the 4-H office,

No certificates or green card will be accepted at weigh –in

August 4th will be work day with two shifts 9-12 or 12-3 We will sign in again as we did last year at the information booth.

 

Livestock Barn changes sheep will open out into a center isle and will have tack areas their also..

Beef will tie alongside outer walls with tack areas on ends.

 

Hilltop Livestock club built and painted the hanging display boards for exhibiting posters and such. Thanks to Hilltop Livestock club.

 

The Barn will be using shavings this year not sawdust.

 

There will be a goat fitting and show clinic June 23rd put on by D’Anna Miller @ 37812 SW Hidden Falls Rd Washougal time to be announce,

 

Monday Aug 13th all day will be supers haul in will get the vet check on Tuesday.

Tuesday Aug 14th kid’s haul in animals, bring kids paperwork, report, (topic will be discussed at next meeting) Quality assurance form and market record will not weigh-in animals without these three things.

 

Camping was discussed do we want to grandfather spots in or leave 1st come 1st serve. Fee $50.00 electric $25.00 tent spots. Will arrange for a pull in and set up at 4 pm Sunday Aug 12th.

 

Discussion about white ribbons talked about giving more out. Market animals sell with white. It’s a yellow utility ribbon that does not sell. Also not at resale auction either, will discussion on resale at next meeting.

Horned animals were discussed should we make policy to have horn protectors need to look into state manual to see what it says follow those guidelines Barn meeting At fair  8 pm…….. Bed down animal at 9 pm same as always.

Talk of a clothing swap at workday old out grown white shirts and pants bring to trade. Dress code for show was brought up thought it would be good to follow state guidelines kids wear dark pants/ with shirt with exception of dairy animals. We will have dress code in premium book. Leaders need to let kids know what’s acceptable, Better to dress up not down

 

Would like 4-H to brainstorm ideas for the covered arena… What we could use it for to help make money to pay the cost

Fair theme “99 reasons” to come to the fair , Next year is 100 birthday
