Horse Advisory 3-12-2007

 

Called to Order by Kay Day at 8:50pm

 

Present:  Brandy Audette, Thomas Friedman, Dave Ladwig, Lenora Bringman, Mike Dudley, Sherril Allen, Bev Gadbaw, Kay Day, Dawn McDow, Jeannie Sizemore, Sophia Sizemore

 

Old Business

Horse show fundraise:.  The Fair board is asking for 80.00 per day plus 10% of our profit to use the facilities.

 Discussion:  Possibly have a schooling show in its place free of charge to kids so that they still have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with arena.  This would not help our fundraising efforts.  It was felt that this would not serve the over all purpose.    It was brought up that most of our profit was made from the gaming portion of the show as they are easier and cheaper to put on.

Bev made a motion that we hold a 2 day gaming show on June 30th and July 1st.  Dawn seconded passed unanimously.

Mike made a motion that we form a sub committee to work out the details of the game show.  Thomas seconded passed unanimously.  Brandy Audette, Dawn McDow, & Sherril Allen were appointed to the committee, with Mike and Bev acting as advisors.

 

Horse Barn Superintendents:  Dawn McDow has agreed to be the Superintendent of Public Demo’s in the horse barn.  Cherrie Melton had said before she would be Herdsmanship Superintendent, Brandy will double check and see if she is still on board.

 

There was a question asking the difference between a demonstration and a presentation?  A demonstration is when something is shown using props.  A presentation is a talk or speech.

 

New Business

At one time we held a mandatory Horse Meeting in May outlining the superintendent’s rules and regulations for fair.  This years Superintendents would like to see this come back. 

 

Bev made a motion that we hold a Mandatory Horse Meeting Monday April 30th at 7pm to be held at Rock Creek Center.  Jeannie seconded passed unanimously.

 

The dress code for Fair will be discussed at the April meeting.  That way we have updated info for the mandatory meeting.  Lenora will send out a postcard reminder of the April Advisory meeting with a blurb informing people that important decisions regarding fair will be discussed.

 

Bev made a motion to adjourn, Dawn seconded passed unanimously.  Adjourned 9:46 pm.
