*       Time For Family Fair

A great family event will be held Friday and Saturday, September 19th and 20th.  The Time For Family Fair, at the Skamania Fairgrounds, features a Friday Night dance with Radio Disney’s Team Disney entertaining and hosting the event.  Some of the other fun activities will be family games, scavenger hunts, a petting Zoo (from the Oregon Zoo), water golf, a Family Talent Show, Family Price is Right (sponsored by A&J) and inflatable bounce houses and pony rides.  The North Bonneville Business Association will be providing an Outdoor movie on Saturday evening (indoor if it rains), and the Stevenson and Carson Business Associations have been challenged to come up with their own activities to add to the fun.  The Girl Scouts are working on an activity to do.

If any of the 4-H groups would like to host an activity, contact Carolyn Miller.  We are looking for activities where the whole family can be involved, if possible.  Some examples might be a relay or other outdoor game, Tug-of-war, a hands-on educational activity, karaoke, a game show (like Family Feud) but any idea that fits your group would be considered.  Their website is www.familyfair.org.  Email carolyn@familyfair.org for more information, or to suggest things you would like to do.

*       Gifts to Overseas Soldiers

From: 4-H Teens Joy Wilken

NE District 4-H Teen Rally will be preparing personal gift (shoe) boxes for soldiers serving overseas as one of their service projects.  The boxes will include items like shampoo, toothbrushes, cards, chewing gum, Chapstick, lotion and other personal hygiene items.  We would like to send them to people from our local area.  If you know of one who grew up or lives in one of the counties in the NE District of Washington, would you please send me there name and address so we can send them one of the boxes?  We will fill them on a first come-first serve basis. I already have 1.  Thanks, Joy Wilken, email: teen4h@hotmail.com

*  NFL Take a Player to School Program

The NFL Take a Player to School program is a joint initiative between JCPenney Afterschool and the National Football League centers on inspiring youth to make the most of their in-school and after school time by making smart and healthy choices and by setting goals and working to achieve them. There is no purchase necessary and the program is open to all kids ages 6-13.

Between July 28th and September 29th kids can pick up an entry form at any JCPenney store or go to jcp.com or NFLRUSH.com to register (no purchase necessary). Thirty-four lucky students from around the country will have the opportunity to ride to school with an NFL player in a limousine and join him in leading their class during a special Take a Player to School gym class. The players will share personal experiences with the students and emphasize the important roles that academics, health and fitness played in turning their dreams into reality. http://www.fourhcouncil.edu/
